SHAH ALAM - Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) deputy president Rafizi Ramli said he welcomes Caretaker Deputy Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz’s summons and that they will pursue the matter in court.

Datuk Seri Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz is seeking RM500,000 in damages from Rafizi Ramli for allegedly defamatory remarks about the acquisition of self-propelled howitzers (SPH).

Rafizi said that the accusation had been made, and some documents had been shown.

“So if he doesn't issue a letter of demand it will be difficult for him to campaign so I understand that at least he can tell the group that supports him that he is innocent and that he has taken action (by) starting a lawsuit,” he said.

Rafizi stated that he has shown that he can convince the people because the evidence on the document is clear.

“So of course when there are negotiations with a company that’s only been established for two or three years, with the owners who themselves are in their 20s and 30s and have involvement by their families - that’s something that not only I want to know, but the rakyat would too.

“So, I'm quite comfortable going to court because I usually check first to make sure that it is within the ambit of the law.

Recently, Rafizi claimed during a press conference that a new business was awarded a contract to supply the Malaysian Army (TDM) with a self-propelled howitzer (SPH) artillery system that had substantial ties to Datuk Seri Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz.
