BAGAN DATUK - In his final round of campaigning, Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has reiterated that not a single leader in BN is above the coalition and the people.

Speaking at a hustings here tonight, Zahid who is also the Umno president issued a stern reminder that it was due to such principle that BN had managed to persevere no matter the odds.

“BN celebrates differences in opinions but its decisions are done collectively,” said Zahid who is contesting in tomorrow’s poll in his incumbent parliamentary seat of Bagan Datuk.

The remark seemed to be a veiled rebuke delivered against the backdrop of an internal fued between him and another BN candidate, Khairy Jamaluddin, over the past two weeks.

Khairy had courted controversy over several comments involving his ambition to be prime minister, his reformist agenda to cleanse Umno and his supposed disdain towards certain Umno leaders.

During his speech, Zahid had also stressed on BN’s sales pitch; promising that a vote for the coalition is a vote for stability.

“Stability is important to Malaysia as it will attract foreign investments into the country and BN promises stability,” claimed Zahid.

In tomorrow’s 15th General Election, Zahid will face a three-cornered fight, with his fiercest contender being Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Md. Akin
