GE15: PN, GPS discuss forming government – Muhyiddin

SHAH ALAM - The Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin held a meeting with the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) chairman Tan Sri Abang Johari Abang Openg and Pas president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang to discuss the formation of the federal government on Sunday.

Muhyiddin revealed the meeting through a tweet on Twitter.

"This morning I received a visit from the Sarawak premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Abang Openg, and Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang to discuss the formation of the federal government.

"Negotiations are also being made with other compatible parties and independent members of parliament.

"InsyaAllah, the federal government will be formed soon," he said.

The results of the 15th General Election (GE15) saw that no party managed to obtain a majority of more than 50 per cent of the total number of 219 contested seats.

Pakatan Harapan (PH) won 76 seats in parliament, followed by Perikatan Nasional (PN) 51 seats; Barisan Nasional (BN) 30 seats and 22 seats each for Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) and Pas.

Additionally, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) won six seats, while DAP managed to win five seats and the independent candidates, two seats.
