SHAH ALAM - More than 112 statutory declarations (SD) have been signed by Perikatan Nasional (PN) MPs who suport its chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as the Prime Minister candidate, the coalition claims.

This, its secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin said meant that Muhyiddin received the majority support of MPs.

"PN has submitted more than 112 SDs which was more than the majority needed for the appointment of a Prime Minister under Article 43 of the Federal Constitution," he said in a statement, today.

Yesterday, Muhyiddin said he will show the SDs from the MPs as proof that the coalition has enough numbers and support to form the government.

He said claims by Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi that BN had never discussed with Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) about offering the party’s support to PN in order to form the government, would not prevent PN from forming the federal government with the support of MPs.

On the same day, GPS chairman Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said that the party will join hands with PN, BN and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) to form the next federal government.

GPS also confirmed that Muhyiddin was its Prime Minister candidate.

Meanwhile, BN denied claims that it had a discussion with GPS in which both had agreed to form the government with PN.
