SHAH ALAM - Pakatan Harapan (PH) is of the opinion that the statement of Perikatan Nasional (PN) Secretary-General Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin claiming that the coalition has more than 112 sworn declarations (SDs) is premature, impossible and inconclusive.

Its Secretary-General Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said PH took its stand from the statement of Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi that any SDs or negotiations with other parties by any Umno MP was invalid and could not be taken into account as evidence towards the majority support of a prime minister candidate.

"It can also cause them to lose their seats as agreed in the SD they signed," he said in a statement on Monday.

Hamzah in a statement on Monday informed that PN had submitted more than 112 SDs from Dewan Rakyat members who gave their confidence to Pagoh MP Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to be appointed as the 10th prime minister.

He said the number of SD was sufficient to form a new Federal government.

Saifuddin said that PH had entered a serious negotiation phase with BN that included discussing main matters that touch on political stability and economic recovery by placing the interests of the people and the country.

"The results of the discussion will be finalised as soon as possible.

"At the same time, we are aware of the refusal by BN Treasurer-General Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hussein in a media statement which had gone viral stating that 10 Umno MPs supported Muhyiddin as the prime minister candidate is not true.
