SHAH ALAM - DAP made an open apology to the Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg if any statements by the party leader offended the state government or the people.

Its secretary-general Anthony Loke Siew Fook said that the apology was made during a meeting with Abang Johari at his residence in Kuching, Thursday morning.

“We had a friendly discussion.

“I have informed YAB Premier that if any statement ever made by any DAP leader that offended the government and the people of Sarawak, I, as a representative of DAP apologise publicly,” he said in a statement on Facebook on Thursday.

In the meantime, Loke also hoped that the meeting could open a new chapter to build understanding and cooperation for a more advanced and progressive Malaysia.

Last Wednesday, the media reported that Sarawak DAP leader Chong Chieng Jen stated that it was impossible to expect Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) led by Abang Johari to work with Pakatan Harapan (PH) after the 15th General Election (GE15).

He said the GPS component parties were members of Barisan Nasional (BN) until 2018 and insisted that voting for GPS is equivalent to voting for Umno.

“If that is not what we want, then we should avoid all possibilities of returning power to Umno.
