KUALA LUMPUR - Barisan Nasional (BN) Selangor Communications Chief Datuk Seri Jamal Md Yunos said the appointment of Pakatan Harapan (PH) Chairman as the 10th Prime Minister was at the people's choice.

Jamal, who is also the Head of UMNO Sungai Besar Division, said BN was ready to form a unity government with PH as commanded by the Yang di-Pertuan Agung, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa

"Congratulations to Datuk Seri Anwar, who fought so long and was finally chosen. This is the will of the people through the 15th General Election (GE15).

"On the orders of Tuanku, BN acquiesced to form a unity government and eventually (the post) of the 10th Prime Minister appointed to Datuk Seri Anwar," he said during a press conference at Menara Dato' Onn, Kuala Lumpur World Trade Centre (WTCKL) today.

Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin had agreed to appoint Anwar as the 10th Prime Minister after His Majesty refined the views of the Malay Rulers at a special discussion session starting at 11am on Thursday.

Jamal explained that BN upholds His Majesty's decree in the event that the party coalition was rejected by the people regardless of the Malays, Chinese and Indians and gets the least parliamentary seats in history.

Hence, he stressed, BN was confident that the formation of a national unity government would be more reliable and return to its peak as it was before GE14.

"PH and BN each have experience in governing, so surely these experiences are a guide to govern the country.

"It is important that the country needs to be well governed because in the previous period, the existing government was unstable making a lot of development unworkable," he said.

Jamal said that at the moment, the ringgit and the stock market are falling.

"I hope the situation will recover and the people will be able to accept Datuk Seri Anwar. So, we wait for the five years of unity government between PH and BN," he added.
