Police remind political party supporters to obey the law

KUALA LUMPUR - Political party supporters are reminded to obey the law to ensure that the democratic process and the appointment of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as Prime Minister at the Istana Negara, here on Thursday can go on smoothly.

Brickfields District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Amihizam Abdul Shukor said that strict action will be taken by the police against any political party supporters who commit provocations.

"Don't provoke or raise any issues including racism and religion, and don't upload any 'posts' or any insertions on social media that could cause annoyance or misunderstanding in the general public.

"Strict action will be taken against the supporters of any party involved," he said in a statement on Thursday.

He said the public is also reminded not to make any speculations or take part in any illegal actions.

He said, any relevant information can contact the Kuala Lumpur Police Hotline at 03-2146 0584/585, the Brickfields Police Hotline at 03-2297 9222 or any nearby police station.

The Ceremony of Awarding the Deed of Appointment, the Ceremony of Taking the Oath of Office and Loyalty, and the Oath of Secrecy as Prime Minister are scheduled at 5pm, Thursday at Istana Negara.

The appointment of Anwar who is the Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman and also the PKR president was approved by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah after a special discussion with the Malay Rulers at the National Palace.
