KUALA LUMPUR : Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said he hopes to form a Cabinet soon.

In a press conference today, Anwar said the task will require lengthy and detailed discussions between members of the unity government.

" I hope to do it soon, but it does require discussions with everyone, and names need to be submitted for consideration," he told reporters in a press conference today.

Anwar said the size of the administration will be reduced and cabinet ministers will be encouraged to take a paycut, although he said everything was still being discussed.

On another matter, Anwar confirmed Gabungan Rakyat Sabah's (GRS) support towards the formation of a unity government.

" I just received a call from Sabah's chief minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor on Thursday and he confirmed that he is with us," he said

Hajiji who is also GRS's president expressed his confidence that the state government will be able to work well with the Federal government to realise

various aspects of development for the state, including efforts to restore Sabah's rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).

After five days of a hung parliament, Anwar’s appointment was finalised after the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the Conference of Rulers convened a special meeting at Istana Negara yesterday over the deadlock.

Shortly after the meeting Anwar was appointed as the 10th prime minister.
