BENTONG - Taken ill just days after being elected as Bentong member of parliament (MP), Young Shefura Othman has called for Pakatan HArapan (PH) supporters to remain calm and not react to provocation currently being spewed by certain quarters on social media.

In a congratulatory note, Young Shefura said she was grateful, excited and looking forward to teaming up with Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in tabling and enacting policies in parliament, after the PH chairman was appointed the nation's 10th Prime Minister on Thursday.

"After facing all the obstacles and hardships for so long, Anwar's sacrifices have finally paid off. I look forward to being with him in the Dewan Rakyat to enact policies and reform for the sake of our beloved Malaysians," she said on her Facebook page.

Anwar, in his first press conference as Prime Minister on Thursday said that PH leaders has agreed to convene the first parliament sitting of the new session on Dec 19.

Young Shefura also updated concerned followers on her health, having suffered a miscarriage and a Covid-19 scare due to one of her officers testing positive for the virus.

"I am now advised by the doctor to rest until full recovery. One of my officers is also currently on leave as she tested positive for Covid-19 after the last election," said Young Shefura, who notified her constituents that she could still be reached by phone, as was her office.

She also apologised and requested some time to take a short break until her health permitted her to return full service.
