KOTA BHARU- Mohd Hashim Mustapha, former Malaysian League Golden Boot winner in 1990, 1993 and 1994, is in critical condition due to complications from diabetes.

Mohd Nizab Ayub, son-in-law of the former prolific Kelantan striker, said his father-in-law was admitted at Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia (HUSM) Kubang Kerian, here yesterday.

"Papa (Mohd Hashim) was rushed to the hospital after experiencing fatigue in addition to his heart beating fast at 11 am yesterday and was sedated as his condition was quite critical.

""I call on all football fans in the country to pray for his speedy recovery," he said when contacted by Bernama, today.

Last October, the 57-year-old Mohd Hashim underwent surgery to amputate his left leg due to diabetes he had been suffering from for the past few years.

The Kelantan football legend had also represented the country in his heyday in the 90s.

Born in Kota Bharu, he had also served as an assistant coach of the Kelantan team from 2010 to 2012, and as head coach of the Tok Janggut Warriors FC that played in the M3 League. - BERNAMA
