ALOR SETAR – The Kedah government has no issues to cooperate with the federal government under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor said he hoped that the cooperation would continue under the concept of federalism.

“I can’t picture yet what would our federalism system be like, but I think that under the system, all states have similar rights.

“The federal government and the states will continue to cooperate under the concept of federalism and I think there is no issues,” he said.

He said this after the launch of the TS25 national-level Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (Stem) Carnival and the 100th anniversary celebration of Sekolah Kebangsaan Sultanah Asma (SKSA) at Dataran Permaisuri SKSA, here, on Saturday.

Sanusi said it was also believed that Kedah would not to be marginalised by the federal government even though it was an opposition state.

“In a democratic political world, things like that (marginalisation) are not allowed, if it happens then you are looking for trouble,” he said.

The Pas election director said Perikatan Nasional’s (PN) confidence in winning the Padang Serai parliamentary seat will not be affected by Anwar’s appointment as Prime Minister.

“Padang Serai’s decision will become the manifestation of the people’s support in the area towards whichever party they favoured.

“If they like a party over there, they can vote for the candidate and if they like it over here, they can vote for our candidate however, I think there are none who dislike me. We are confident to win easily there,” he said.

Sanusi described the organisation of the Stem carnival as a great effort to ensure that the human capital was highly skilled for the development of the country in facing the world Industrial Revolution 4.0.

He said the carnival could provide early exposure and attract students’ interests in the latest technological developments as well as careers related to the Stem field, among others.

Sanusi said the selection of SKSA in the implementation of the programmes was a right choice in line with the celebration of the 100th anniversary of its establishment and the school's achievement.
