Singer Nora Ariffin receives late son’s diploma on his behalf

SHAH ALAM - Convocations are supposed to be a proud moment for parents celebrating their children completing their studies.

However, things were different for the singer Datuk Wan Norafizah Wan Ariffin 49, who had to go through a different situation.

The day that was supposed to be celebrated by her and family changed to a sombre one when she represented her late son Muhammad Syakir Alif Johan to receive his diploma scroll in the 95th Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Convocation Ceremony recently.

Through a poignant post on her Instagram, Nora said she and her family were proud and happy for her late son's achievement.

"He managed to finish his diploma studies in film at the UiTM Film, Theatre and Animation Faculty (Fita) Puncak Perdana Branch, here before returning to his creator.

"This is for you Alif, Mama will take it for you. Alhamdulillah. Congratulations. I hope you find peace over there Alif. Thank you for to UiTM Fita and friends for supporting Alif throughout his life. Thank you UiTM. May his legacy be continued," Nora wrote.

Through a video shared on UiTM's Facebook Nora had shared a little bit about her late son activities and how he was always there for her.

She said that during his lifetime he had helped her take part in many creative projects including aiding her in producing videos.

Nora said Alif became among the individuals who had lifted her spirits after the death of her husband.

Her late son had always made sure to keep in contact with her to ask about her wellbeing.

“He’s also close with his elder brother and his younger siblings. His loss really hit us. First it was his father, now Alif.

“But it’s okay, we’ve accepted it and for us, no matter how much we loved them, Allah loves them more,” she said in the video.

Nora's Instagram post had garnered a lot of response from her followers and fans. Many expressed their joy over the success of her late son and shared their condolences.

Alif had breathed his last breath on Dec 14, 2019, after suddenly collapsing at home.

In March 2017, Nora lost her husband, renowned composer, Johan Nawawi.
