MCA vice president Datuk Mah Hang Soon said certain BN senior leaders told MCA to support PN to form a government.
“After Nov 19 polls, MCA was told by senior leaders in BN that the coalition should come together with PN to form the government based on decision made before GE15 which was ’No DAP, No Anwar’, he said.
He said it was the same for Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) with news reports stating GPS’ support for PN.
However, Mah said that the first BN Supreme Council Meeting held after GE15 concluded that BN will be neutral and remain as the oppposition.
Following this, he said MCA president Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong had suggested that any statutory declaration (SD) by any BN MPs must be withdrawn immediately.
Before this, Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang was reported to have claimed that PN has SDs from MCA and MIC declaring support for PN chairman, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to be appointed as the prime minister,
Recently, on Nov 22, Muhyiddin also claimed that he had submitted SDs from 115 Members of Parliament proving that he has the majority support.
On Monday, MCA had said its “wholehearted” support for Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s unity government, with secretary-general Chong Sin Woon describing it as a step towards national reconciliation between the ruling and opposition coalitions.
Anwar’s government also has the support of MPs from Warisan, Muda, Parti Bangsa Malaysia and independents.
