Based on a notice issued by Dewan Rakyat secretary Nizam Mydin Bacha Mydin which was sent out to all MPs, today, the appointment of the Speaker will be held on the first day of the sitting, followed by the swearing-in of MPs.
The notice also stated that the meeting will include the appointment of deputy Dewan Rakyat Speakers.
The motion of vote of confidence on the Prime Minister's leadership was the eighth item on the agenda of the meeting.
"The Speaker has consented to shorten the period of the notice of the meeting in accordance with the Regulation 9(2)(a) of the Standing Orders of the Dewan Rakyat," it said.
The current Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat is Tan Sri Azhar Azizan Harun.
He was appointed as the 10th Dewan Rakyat Speaker replacing Tan Sri Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof on July 13, 2020 following a change in the administration of the federal government.
