Continuous heavy rain in Terengganu, Kelantan and Pahang until Saturday, warns MET Malaysia

SHAH ALAM - Terengganu and several districts in Kelantan and Pahang will see continuous heavy rain until Friday, warns the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MET Malaysia).

In issuing the alert, the department said districts in Kelantan including Tumpat, Pasir Mas, Kota Bharu, Tanah Merah, Bachok, Machang, Pasir Puteh and Kuala Krai while in Pahang are Kuantan, Pekan and Rompin will affected by the continuous heavy rain.

Meanwhile, it added that several districts in Perak, Kelantan and Pahang are also expected to be affected by heavy rains until Saturday.

"The districts which are more likely affected are Hulu Perak and Kuala Kangsar in Perak; Jeli and Gua Musang (Kelantan) as well as Jerantut and Maran in Pahang.

"Continuous heavy rain is expected to occur with the amount of rainfall exceeding 60 mm in a period of 6 hours," it added.

Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) also announced that three states were still affected by the floods as of 7am today (Friday) with 220 victims from 70 families taking shelter in seven temporary evacuation centres (PPS).
