Boy sustains severe injuries in crocodile attack

LAHAD DATU – A boy was seriously injured after being attacked by a crocodile in an incident in Kampung Air, here, last Thursday.

In the 5.55pm incident, the seven-year-old child sustained injuries on his right leg as a result of being bitten by a crocodile.

Lahad Datu District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Rohan Shah Ahmad said the incident happened when the victim was said to have gone out of his house to collect his chickens.

"At that time, his cousin who was at the scene saw the crocodile and shouted to warn the victim.

"The victim then ran to save himself and tried to climb back on the bridge near his house but the crocodile managed to bite him.

"As a result of the attack, the victim suffered an injury to his right leg and was immediately taken to Lahad Datu Hospital for treatment.

"The victim underwent surgery is now in a stable condition," he said in a statement.

Rohan also disclosed that the Lahad Datu District Police had identified 28 crocodile nest locations in the district.
