Five working papers to be tabled at NACCOL meeting on Tuesday

JOHOR BAHRU - Five working papers to address issues on cost of living will be presented at the National Action Council on the Cost of Living (NACCOL) meeting, come Tuesday.

Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister (KPDN) Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub said the special meeting will see the participation of 15 ministries which are also NACCOL members, is expected to be chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

"The five papers are important to ensure that the government can effectively manage the issues pertaining cost of living issue which is plaguing the people.

"Among the ministries that will present the papers on the cost of living are Transport Ministry, Agriculture and Food Security Ministry , KPDN and Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry

"A decision on cost of living is expected to be made after the meeting in which Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will make an announcement. As we know, the issue of cost of living is something that the premier is committed to look into," he added.

Salahuddin was met at press conference after attending the Khatan Perdana Majlis at the Al-Mizan Kempas Mosque here today.

In a meeting on Nov 27, Anwar had instructed NACCOL to analyse and investigate the implications related to subsidy within two weeks.

Meanwhile, Salahuddin who is also the Pulai MP said that KPDN will also hold a meeting with the Agriculture and Food Security Ministry after the NACCOL special meeting on Tuesday on food supply issues.

"It is important for both ministries to work together so that the food supply chain is not disrupted and runs smoothly.
