KUALA LUMPUR - UMW Holdings Bhd’s automotive sales surged to a new high in November 2022, as the group delivered 39,034 units during the month, 11 per cent higher than the 35,130 units registered in October 2022.

In a statement today, the group said both UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) and UMW’s associate company Perodua had registered record sales, as both companies continued to fulfil their encouraging outstanding bookings.

Between January 2022 and November 2022, the UMW Group delivered a total of 341,390 units, 48 per cent higher than the 230,355 units registered in the corresponding period of 2021, which was affected by the implementation of the full movement control order (FMCO) from June 1 to Aug 15, 2021.

UMW Holdings president and group chief executive officer Datuk Ahmad Fuaad Kenali said UMWT and Perodua had increased their production in November, supported by the improving supply chain and will continue to ramp up production to hasten the delivery of cars to the customers.

"With the strong sales registered to date, mainly due to the sales tax exemption as well as the introduction of new models, we were able to achieve our sales targets for 2022 by November.

"We expect sales to remain strong in December based on the encouraging bookings,” he added.

UMWT registered its highest sales for 2022 with the delivery of 10,442 units in November 2022, 13 per cent higher than the 9,281 units registered in October 2022, while year-to-date UMWT registered 90,595 units, a 44 per cent growth compared with the 63,105 units registered in the corresponding period of 2021.
