Their support was sealed through a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between the coalitions under the unity government at the Perdana Putra building at 3.15 pm, here.
The MoA was signed by secretaries-general of each political party under the coalition; Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail (PH), Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir (BN), Datuk Loretto S Padua Jr (Warisan), Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi (GPS), and Datuk Seri Marsidi Manjun (GRS).
The agreement was also signed by coalition leaders: Anwar (PH), Barisan Nasional chairman, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Warisan President, Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, Sarawak Party Coalition (GPS) Chairman, Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, and People's Coalition Sabah (GRS) Chairman, Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
Through the goals of the agreement, the coalition agreed to uphold loyalty to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong as head of state and to preserve and defend the Federal Constitution.
The constitutional monarchy system will continue to be preserved and parliamentary democracy will be strengthened in addition to the rights and power of the rakyat supported by the Malaysian Unity Government.
The position of Islam as the federal religion remains preserved without denying the religious rights of the non-Muslim community as stipulated in Article 3(1) of the Federal Constitution.
The sovereignty of Bahasa Melayu as the national language as well as the official language of the country is also guaranteed through the MoU.
Meanwhile, the supremacy and rule of law, the independence of the judiciary, public institutions and the effectiveness and professionalism of the security forces were upheld.
The consensus agreement also aims to strengthen and strive for the separation of powers between the executive, legislative and judicial branches of the Federal Government.
The movement was for the government system that has strong arbitration that can be fostered to avoid centralization of power and corruption.
