Landslide: Two more bodies found, bringing total death toll to 18

SHAH ALAM - Two more bodies were found in the landslide incident at a campsite near Father's Organic Farm, bringing the total death toll to 18.

This was confirmed by Fire and Rescue Department who said that the bodies were recovered at 4.40pm.

“Total fatalities stand at 18 as of 4.40pm, 15 victims are still missing,” the department said in a brief statement.

As of now, the search and rescue (SAR) operations were ongoing to find the remaining victims who were still missing in the tragedy.

The weather was not promising as several states were expected to be hit with thunderstorms and heavy rain until 7pm today, as forecasted by Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) data.

In Selangor, a warning was also issued for Hulu Selangor and Hulu Langat.

Close to 100 people were believed to have been trapped in the landslide when it took place at 2.24am today.

The SAR operation was carried out with the assistance of the K9 tracker dog unit, the Emergency Medical Rescue Service (EMRS) from the Sentosa, Ampang, Pandan, Kota Anggerik, Kajang dan Andalas fire and rescue stations and the Special Tactical Operation and Rescue Team (STORM).
