Muhyiddin says unity government agreement is irrelevant if Anwar has two-thirds MP backing

He added that the newly inked unity government agreement is not needed if Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim already had two-thirds support.
"It appears that the prime minister is not optimistic about the upcoming vote of confidence in Parliament on Monday.
"I was informed that he had already received 148 votes of support from MPs, which is more than two-thirds of the majority.
"He should trust his supporters more to deliver, not punish them with such an agreement," he said.
Muhyiddin said this to the media after attending "Majlis Kesyukuran Bersama Ahli Parlimen Pagoh" at the Pagoh Sports Complex on Saturday.
The Bersatu president also said it was against the law for policymakers to give up their seats as MPs if they did not support Anwar as prime minister.
"I have never seen laws like this, and this could be applied if it touches on the anti-party hopping law. But this does not relate to the anti-party hopping law.
"There are some views saying that this agreement is unconstitutional and illegal," he said, adding the political party could have just taken disciplinary action against their members instead of asking them to vacate their seats.
Muhyiddin said they would talk about PN's position on the vote of confidence on Sunday and make a final decision on Monday.
"Of course, we will not support the motion, but we will discuss this matter further during our pre-council meeting tomorrow," he added.
The unity government includes Pakatan Harapan (PH), Barisan Nasional (BN), Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), Gabungan Rakyat Sarawak (GRS), and Warisan, which all signed an agreement to commit to stable leadership.
Anwar said that the agreement promised to support a stable government that could remain in charge for five years.
