Dewan Rakyat: All MPs have taken their oaths

KUALA LUMPUR: All members of parliament have officially taken their oaths today.

The first to be sworn in was Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, followed by his deputies Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (BN -Bagan Datuk) and Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.( BN-Petra Jaya) The rest of the MPs from the Unity government followed suit, after which the opposition bloc took their oaths led by Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin ( PN-Larut) followed by Perikatan chief Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (PN-Pagoh) and Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang (PN-Marang).

All 222 elected representatives took their oaths before newly elected Dewan Rakyat speaker Datuk Johari Abdul.

The vote of confidence to determine the legitimacy of Anwar's appointment as Malaysia's 10th prime minister will take place once the house convenes again after its lunch break.

The first meeting of the first session of the 15th Parliament will run for two days beginning today.

Recently Anwar had announced during a press conference that the first Parliament sitting would also table and approve a special allocation or mini budget to pay civil service emoluments for January.
