Three men killed while installing telecommunication cable in sewer hole

SHAH ALAM – Three contract workers die in a sewer hole near Taman Sains 2, Cyberjaya today.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Datuk Norazam Khamis said the three Indonesian male aged between 30 and 43 fainted while installing telecommunication cable in a sewer hole at a depth of five metres.

Norazam said the department received a distress call on the incident at 3.17pm.

"A team of firefighters from the Cyberjaya Fire and Rescue Station was rushed to the scene of the incident and arrived at 3.24pm.

“The first victim brought out of the hole was pronounced dead by the Health Ministry personnel and had been handed over to the police for further action.

“Two other victims had also been extricated out of the hole by 5pm” he said.

It was learnt that the victim had fainted due to insufficient of oxygen or inhalation of poisonous gas in the sewer hole.

The victims' bodies were sent to the nearest hospital for further action.
