Floods: Eight petrol stations close in Terengganu

Terengganu Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) director Shaharuddin Mohd Kia said the move was to avoid any unwanted incidents.
He said the stations involved were three stations in Kemaman, two in Hulu Terengganu and one each in Besut, Setiu and Dungun.
"KPDN had received the request to close the stations because it was flooded, and we allowed it to avoid issues of petrol polluting the waters and the issue of safety with electricity usage.
"Previously there was a case where the petrol was released into the waters however, the station took responsibility," he said after delivering dry food donations to flood victims at Bukit Payong Civic Hall temporary evacuation centre (PPS), here, on Tuesday.
Saharuddin said there were 181 petrol stations throughout Terengganu supplying petrol fuel for the people in the state.
He explained KPDN was monitoring the situation and the latest developments so that the supply of petrol is not disrupted.
"However, if there was a critical supply disruption, we will place Petronas ROVR mobile stations in the locations necessary," he said.
The Petronas ROVR was a mobile fueling station using a truck that carried a fuel capacity of 700 litres and 13,000 litres.
The services would enable the public and the rescue teams quick and easy access to fuel.
