SHAH ALAM – Applications from international students to further their studies in Malaysia have recorded an increasing pattern.

According to Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) new international student applications have hit 50,000 exceeding the target for 2022. This includes applications for both public and private education institutions.

Students from China, Indonesia, Pakistan, Japan and Egypt were among the top 10 countries for new applications received from international students.

“ We are glad to see an increase for the applications. This result shows Malaysia is still a favoured destination for international students to pursue their studies.

EMGS Chief Executive Officer, Mohd Radzlan bin Jalaludin said that this was a tremendous accomplishment and yet another milestone for EMGS and Malaysia as a whole.

Local and international students can easily access information about studying in Malaysia through an EMGS initiative, the 'Discover Education Malaysia' portal.

The portal provides comprehensive information on Malaysian higher education institutions, including background, programmes, fee structure, and career paths as well as student testimonials and informative articles.

This portal also intends to bridge the gap between higher education institutions and potential local or international students and parents who are seeking information about studying in Malaysia.

EMGS will continue to support the government's aspiration of attracting 250,000 international students by 2025 and promote Malaysia as an international education hub of choice.
