BATU PAHAT - Batu Pahat District Police has detained a man and seized hundreds of stolen branded shoes and slippers worth RM7,000 at Sri Gading, here.

He said the police seized 12 shoes in the man's vehicle that was reported to have been a stolen vehicle.

"The Batu Pahat Police Station (IPD) had received 21 reports of shoes stolen in the district, primarily in the Yong Peng area causing the public to be anxious.

"Batu Pahat IPD had raised the patrols around the residential areas as well as asked residents to immediately contact police for any suspicious activities," he said on Tuesday.

He said 125 pairs of shoes and 24 slippers of various brands were seized from the suspect's home in Jalan Labis, Yong Peng.

"Early investigations found the suspect selling the stolen shoes and slippers at the market near Parit Yaani, Batu Pahat," he said.

He said investigations found the man was a suspect wanted by the Alor Gajah IPD for five previous criminal records.
