Prepaid internet bills cheaper than your bowl of noodles

SHAH ALAM - Imagine your monthly internet bill is lesser than your bowl of noodles.

That's right.

In a recent initiative to provide better communication and connectivity to the B40 income group, the government under the Communications and Digital Ministry announced Unity Package prepaid mobile internet plan at RM5 per month from Feb, next year.

CelcomDigi, Maxis, U Mobile, Telekom Malaysia (™) and YTL Communications have jumped on the bandwagon to help connect Malaysians and is targeted for those who are in the B40 bracket, youth aged up to 30, persons with disabilities (PWD), senior citizens and veterans of uniformed bodies.

Some plans offered by these companies are:

i) CelcomDigi

• RM35 per month (5G access for limited time only, 30GB monthly high-speed internet, free one VR content, free one month Blacknut Cloud gaming unlimited calls to all network)
• RM45 (5G access for limited time only, 30GB monthly high-speed internet, free one VR content, free one month Blacknut Cloud gaming unlimited calls to all network)
• RM38 (Unlimited 3mbps, 5GB high speed, 3GB hotspot quota and unlimited calls to all network)
• RM48 (Unlimited 6mbps, 10GB high speed, 6GB hotspot quota and unlimited calls to all network)

As for Digi Prepaid, there are four packages which are popular among Malaysians; NEXT Unlimited 40, NEXT 35, NEXT 20 and NEXT 30.

• NEXT Unlimited 40 offered unlimited calls, 10GB hotspot with auto renewal and valid for 30 days (RM40)
• NEXT 35 offered 30GB high speed internet, unlimited calls, unlimited social media with 3GB extra hotspot and valid for 30 days (RM35)
• NEXT 20 offered 15GB high speed internet, unlimited social media with 1GB extra hotspot and valid for 30 days (RM20)
• NEXT 30 offered 20GB high speed internet, unlimited social media with 2GB extra hotspot and valid for 30 days (RM30)

ii) Maxis

For Maxis, this telco company offers four types of prepaid plans such as Hotlink Pantas, Hotlink Unlimited, Hotlink Streaming and Hotlink Work From Home, all of which has its unique offers. Firstly, the Hotlink Pantas. It consists high speed uncapped internet for all and unlimited calls with 365 days validity. This plan has four options;

• RM40 (25GB high speed internet for all usages and unlimited local calls)
• RM25 (15GB high speed internet for all usages and unlimited local calls)
• RM30 (20GB high speed internet for all usages and zero wastage internet with 365 days validity)
• RM15 (8GB high speed internet for all usages and zero wastage internet with 365 days validity)

As for the Hotlink Unlimited plan, Maxis provides three options;

• RM60 (6X Speed, paired with unlimited internet @ 18mbps, unlimited local calls, unlimited hotspot, uncapped high speed internet everyday from 2 am to 2 pm and 30 days of validity)
• RM50 (Unlimited internet @ 6mbps, unlimited local calls, unlimited hotspot, uncapped high speed internet everyday from 2 am to 2 pm and 30 days of validity)
• RM40 (Unlimited internet @ 3mbps, unlimited local calls, unlimited hotspot, uncapped high speed internet everyday from 2 am to 2 pm and 30 days of validity)

Hotlink Streaming offers three plans;

• RM40 (25GB high speed internet for all usage, unlimited high-speed streaming from 6pm to 6am and has 30 days validity)
• RM25 (15GB high speed internet for all usage, unlimited high-speed streaming from 6pm to 6am and has 30 days validity)
• RM20 (5GB high speed internet for all usage, unlimited high-speed streaming from 6pm to 6am and has 30 days validity)

Whereas, the Hotlink Work From Home plan has three plans to suit the specific need of customers;

• RM40 (25GB high speed internet for all usage, unlimited high-speed internet for WFH apps and 30 days validity)
• RM25 (15GB high speed internet for all usage, unlimited high-speed internet for WFH apps and 30 days validity)
• RM20 (5GB high speed internet for all usage, unlimited high-speed internet for WFH apps and 30 days validity)

iii) U Mobile

For U Mobile prepaid plans, there are Prepaid U25, Prepaid U30 and Prepaid U45 plans which provide unlimited hotspot for their users.

• Prepaid U25 offered uncapped internet speed 4G/5G for 30 hours per month, unlimited 4G data at 3mbps and unlimited calls (RM25)
• Prepaid U30 offered uncapped internet speed 4G/5G during weekend, unlimited 4G data at 6mbps, unlimited calls and 3GB hotspot (RM30)
• Prepaid U45 offered uncapped internet speed 4G/5G for 30 hours per month, unlimited 4G data at 6mbps, unlimited calls and unlimited hotspot (RM45)

iv) Telekom Malaysia (TM) Telekom Malaysia Berhad also with its' telecommunication service brand, Unifi, now provides mobile prepaid plan for its customers which is customised under the #Bebas Prepaid plan.The plans offers unlimited internet

• RM35 for monthly subscription, unlimited 4G and 5G data, unlimited calls to all networks, 10GB hotspot and valid until 30 days.
• RM12 weekly, unlimited 4G data 3GB hotspot and seven days validity
• RM3 for daily subscription, 1GB hotspot and valid only for 24 hours
• RM1 for two hours unlimited internet usage and valid for two hours only

v) YTL Communications YTL Communications or Yes offers a plan which requires their customers to subscribe monthly at RM30. This has a validity period of 30 days. It also offers unlimited calls for the subscription and uncapped speed for the internet.
