SHAH ALAM - "Don't be arrogant because of the position you hold, as it wouldn't have been possible without the people," Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan told politicians with government positions.

Instead, the Umno secretary general stated that these democratically elected leaders should strive to understand and unite with the people.

"Don't worry about sitting cross-legged with them on the ground. Don't be arrogant toward them.

"There were few who even declined a selfie request as if they were busy with work. We are also ordinary citizens, and we only hold this position temporarily.

"Let's understand each other and not stray away," he said through a post on his Facebook on Sunday.

Earlier today, Ahmad Maslan launched the 2023 New Year Run held at the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) in Kuala Lumpur involving thousands of participants from within and outside the country.

In another post, the Pontian MP also shared his excitement about attending the event.

"Many people took pictures with me. Lets celebrate the harmony and multiracial community we live in.

"Although I used to be a deputy minister for nine years, this is the first time I have been invited to such an event.

"Hopefully, we will meet again in an event like this. Practice a healthy lifestyle. There is no use of wealth without health.

"Take care of what you eat, drink and avoid cigarettes, alcohol, and other things that are not good. Stay loyal to your life partner so that there is no misery in happiness, no lies in delight," he said.
