SHAH ALAM – Two siblings died in a house fire in Jalan Dewan Simpang Tiga Kampung Tanguit Gombak on Monday.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) director Datuk Norazam Khamis said in the incident, the victims were identified as Nur Syaza Alfisya Muhammad Faizan, 10, and her brother, Muhammad Al Qayyum Muhammad Faizan, 7.

“At the time of the incident, the victims’ parents were not at home, and based on the condition that the bodies were found, the victims were believed to have tried to escape from the fire but failed because the grill door was locked,” he said in a statement.

Norazam said the department received a distress call on the incident at 3.53am.

"A total of 22 members from the Selayang and Rawang Fire and Rescue Stations (BBP) including the Volunteer Fire Brigade (PBS) were rushed to the scene.

"The two victims were found dead at 4.43am after the fire was fully controlled," he said.

He explained that the fire involved a class A terrace house with an area of 6x24 square metres with over 70 percent burnt.

"The cause of the fire and the total loss are still under further investigation," he said.
