SHAH ALAM - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has been told to explain over lack of allocation to opposition MPs.

Arau MP Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim said the ruling government MPs claimed to have received their allocations.

He explained even though the Hulu Langat MP Mohd Sany Hamzah had given a response over the matter previously, however, Shahidan considered the explanation from Anwar was crucial.

"I demand our rights as MPs. It is not appropriate when government funds were given unfairly, this is also in line with the Pakatan Harapan's (PH) manifesto to provide equal allocation to all MPs.

"There were no allocations received by opposition MPs in Perikatan Nasional (PN) lead Perlis, Kedah, Terengganu and Kelantan.

"I don't need an explanation from the Hulu Langat MP. I feel his explanation is not worthy. I just need an explanation from the prime minister," he said in a post on Facebook on Tuesday.

Sany had saod Shahidan's claims were to pressure the government to give them the same allocation with the government representative through the 2023 Budget.

Under decades of Barisan Nasional ruling, the opposition MPs were denied of money until PH came to power in 2018. Since then opposition MPs have been receiving their allocations.
