MetMalaysia issues alert warning of continuous rain in Kelantan and T'ganu

SHAH ALAM - The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of continuous rain at alert level for Kelantan and Terengganu until Saturday.

Its director-general, Muhammad Helmi Abdullah said the forecast was based on the weather model analysis carried out by the agency.

"Based on the weather model analysis, wind concentration is expected to occur on the east coast of West Malaysia on Jan 6 to Jan 9. This has potential to produce continuous rain in the area.

"MetMalaysia has updated the continuous rain warning (alert) for Kelantan and Terengganu with effect from Jan 6 to Jan 7, 2023," he said in a statement on Facebook on Friday.

He said storms, heavy rains, and strong winds were expected to happen in the rural area in the western Peninsula, west of Sabah as well as central and northern Sarawak in the afternoon until the evening.
