Bung Moktar supportive of a Sabah unity government

KOTA KINABALU - Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) President, Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin fully supports the proposition by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, to form the Sabah unity government.

Bung Moktar, who is also the leader of UMNO Sabah is confident that the involvement of all political parties through the unity government will bring about calm to the current heated political situation happening in the state.

"As the leader of UMNO Sabah as well as BN Sabah president, I fully support Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's proposal to form a unity government in Sabah involving all political parties in this state.

"I am confident and believe that through this unity government, it will help to stabilize the current political situatio in Sabah." he said in a statement on Tuesday.

Bung said he hoped that Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor will be open to this proposition from the Prime Minister to ensure that the well - being of the people in Sabah are taken care of."

Commenting on the Sabah State Assembly (DUN) special session which will be held today Bung said that a majority members of Sabah UMNO State Assembly Members were unable to attend the session.

"Some UMNO assemblymen are unable to attend as they have already left for Kuala Lumpur to attend the UMNO General Assembly.

" However, I along with other Sabah UMNO assemblymen fully support the Gas Supply Bill 2023 that will be tabled in the special third term meeting of the 16th Sabah State Assembly today ," he said

Meanwhile it was reported that Anwar had arrived in Kota Kinabalu to meet with political party leaders on Monday, had approved for Hajiji to remain as Sabah Chief Minister.

Anwar had also met with Bung Moktar, Parti Warisan (Warisan) President Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal and Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) President Datuk Peter Anthony at a hotel as soon as he arrived from his work trip in Indonesia.

Sabah has been embroiled in a political turmoil when Bung Moktar announced last Friday that UMNO and Sabah BN were withdrawing their support for Hajiji as Chief Minister, causing Hajiji to lose majority support.

However, Hajiji on Sunday informed that he has 44 Sworn Declaration (SD) from Sabah assemblymen consisting of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), seven Pakatan Harapan assemblymen and five BN assemblymen.
