Mahdzhir Khalid claims he has no moves regardless if its in KL or London

KUALA LUMPUR - Umno Vice-President Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid claims he has got no moves.

Commenting on the alleged ‘London Move' speculation involving several political leaders from Umno Mahdzir said it was just slanderous gossip aimed at getting people to fight.

“I started my poltical career in 1993 until now, it’s already 30 years, I don’t have any ‘moves'.

“It’s true that I was in London, I was with my family and grandchildren for a holiday and I did not meet anyone prominent from the party there,” he told Sinar Daily.

Mahdzhir added that before he was in London, he was in Jakarta.

“ Since I was in Jakarta, there is going to be a rumour saying that there was a ' Jakarta Move' when its not true at all," Mahdzhir stressed.

For the past week allegations have been rife that the party's two vice presidents namely Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and Mahdzir were involved in the ‘London Move'.

It was reported that several political leaders had a secret meeting in London recently to organise a movement to topple the current unity government and to get Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to vacate his seat as party president.

Ismail Sabri has since vehemently denied being involved in the movement while Zahid has dubbed the political overture as just ' baseless rumours'.

On Jan 4th several pictures of Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin holding a closed-door meeting in London were circulated online.

The pictures fueled speculation of plans hatched by certain parties to oust Zahid, who is also the deputy prime minister.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has also descibed the 'London Move' as being too far fetched When asked by reporters to comment on it, Anwar responded cynically by saying that the move should instead be conducted in the country.

"'London Move' is too far-fetched. It would be cheaper if 'Kajang Move' was done instead," he was quoted as saying.
