KUALA LUMPUR - Umno president Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi today urged delegates to close ranks and rebuild the party in the spirit of togetherness.
In a Facebook post Zahid said he felt touched seeing the large number of delegates that have gathered at the Dewan Merdeka for his presidential briefing.
The closed presidential briefing was held earlier this afternoon at Dewan Merdeka, World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL).
" I hope to use this sacred platform to express my feelings, and talk about the challenges that I have faced and endured as captain of this ship, " he wrote.
Zahid said he hoped that constructive discussions will be held on the future of the party and whatever reforms and changes the party needs to undertake in the future.
The Umno general assembly, which was initially scheduled in December, will be held from Wednesday till Saturday (Jan 14) while Umno’s party elections are scheduled to be held in May.
It was reported that no dates have been fixed yet for the 2023 assembly, but Zahid had said on Monday that Umno divisions would hold simultaneous meetings this year and focus on elections at the divisional and central levels.
