140 Umno division chiefs to hold press conference tonight

SHAH ALAM - A total of 140 Umno division chiefs nationwide are expected to have a press conference at 10pm, tonight.

Through an invitation extended to the media, the press conference will be held at the Royal Chulan Grand Ballroom in Kuala Lumpur.

However, Sinar Harian has yet to obtain information on the essence of the press conference that will be held.

The 2022 Umno General Assembly (PAU) which will take place from Jan 11 to Jan 14 started with the opening of the Umno Wanita, Youth and Puteri wings general assembly at 8pm at the World Trade Centre (WTC), Kuala Lumpur.

Tonight, the chiefs from the wings were expected to deliver a keynote speech and debate motions followed by the selection of representatives to PAU at separate halls.

Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said failure of the party to secure a big win in the 15th General Election (GE15) was among the main issues that will be discussed in PAU.

He said the representatives who will be debating in the meeting could make it a platform to deliver their views and suggestions following the defeat as well as measures to improve the result he described at unusual.

Ahmad said the meeting will focus on the biggest Malay party’s preparation in facing the six state elections as well as the etiquettes of the party election held this year.
