KUALA LUMPUR - The daughter of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, Nooryana Najwa Najib said her father is fully supportive of Umno president Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi.

Nooryana said her father had related to her that he wishes for Umno to be a stable and strong party going forward.

"In my opinion it is up to the grassroots if they want the top party posts to be contested, as usual we have to listen to the voice of the majority.

"By listening to voices of the majority we will be able to achieve stability within the party." she said when met by Sinar Daily at the 2022 Umno General Assembly (PAU) here.

Nooryana said as the party was preparing itself to face the state elections, it was important for the party to be stable as it looks into fresh approaches in facing the state elections.

"As what the Puteri chief said in her policy speech, the party needs to go back to the drawing board, and learn how to use social media more effectively.

"This is the era of Tik Tok elections, I myself need to move on from Facebook to Tik Tok, the party needs to be flexible and adaptable." she said.

She said she hoped that the party will have more youth icons that will be able to attract more youth voters to the party.

"This is an issue that the party needs to seriously look into, we need to follow trends, we need to be sporting as long as we gain back the support we once had." On another note, Nooryana said she was busy preparing for her father's judicial review.

“Now, we are busy preparing for his judicial review on the SRC case that will be held on Jan 19."

“Alhamdulillah, daddy is in a good condition, healthy but a little thin,” she added.

Nooryana hoped that the judicial review would go smoothly and as she was trying her best to get justice for Najib.

Najib is under trial on 21 counts of money laundering involving RM2.3 billion and four counts of exploiting his position to obtain bribes totaling RM2.3 billion from 1MDB funds.

The Umno general assembly is currently on its second day and would be held until Jan 14.
