KUALA LUMPUR - Umno only fell to its knees, it is not dead, Umno information chief Isham Jalil said today.

Isham was referring to the narrative and perception that some people have of the party, saying that the party was no longer relevant due to its huge loss in the 15th General Election (GE15).

Isham said he has met grassroots leaders at Kedah, Pulau Pinang, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan and has held meetings to reflect on their losses during GE15.

“We met with our grassroots leaders after we lost during GE15, and we have had many discussions, it was not a post mortem, rather a reflection of why we lost.

“I do not want to use post-mortem because it refers to something that is dead, Umno only fell to its knees, its not dead,” Isham said during a press conference here at the 2022 Umno General Assembly (PAU) here.

He stated that the meetings were focused on their strategy for the upcoming state polls.

“We can reflect but not for too long because we must find a way to get up again," he said Isham said he did not manage to meet with grassroots leaders in Kelantan and Terengganu yet due to the floods.
