KUALA LUMPUR – Former Umno vice president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein has expressed interest in running for the party’s top two posts, if and only if they were open for contest in the coming party poll.
“We’ll have to wait for such a decision [to open the president and deputy president for contest] to be made at this general assembly.
“If it is opened for contest then I don’t mind running in coming polls,” Hishammuddin told reporters following the conclusion of party president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s policy speech today.
Earlier today, Zahid said that it was up to the party members to decide whether the party president and deputy president post should be open for contest or not.
