SHAH ALAM - Umno Secretary-General Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan reiterates the additional motion regarding the president and deputy president positions not to be contested raised in the 2022 Umno General Assembly (PAU) is not illegal.

He said he had received advice from Umno’s lawyers regarding the matter.

"The additional motion is not an illegal motion as claimed.

"After the speech and suggestion from the Negeri Sembilan representative supported by the Terengganu representative, I have asked for advice from Umno lawyers.

“They stated the method of the motion was allowed according to Article 20 of the Umno Conference rules,” he said in a statement on Sunday.

The media on Saturday reported the additional motion for the two top positions in Umno not to be contested in the 2022 PAU was against Article 30 of the Umno Constitution and Article 10 of the Conference rules.

Iskandar Puteri Umno Division deputy chief Datuk Pandak Ahmad said the motion was not complete thus it could not be continued on Saturday.

Ahmad informed the secretariat had implemented the 2022 PAU with great care, order and a high level of efficiency.
