SHAH ALAM - Puteri Sarah Liyana Megat Kamaruddin filed for divorce from her husband Syamsul Yusof, on Monday at the Syariah Court in Kuala Lumpur, citing pressure from third-party interference or an affair that has caused her husband to leave their matrimonial home for an extended period of time.

The 38-year-old actress filed the application through the legal firm of Akberdin & Co. at the Syariah Court, naming Syamsul as the defendant.

Puteri Sarah claimed that the request was made in accordance with Section 47 of the Islamic Family Law Act (Federal Territories) 1984 based on the submitted documents.

Among the reasons presented, there was no more understanding and prolonged shiqaq (disagreement) between them, and they could no longer live together as husband and wife according to Syariah law.

"My children and I no longer live with my husband, either in the in-laws' or the family's house.

"If (the marriage) continues, it may cause harm to both parties, especially myself and my emotions, as well as the children's," she added.

Puteri Sarah, clad in a black jubah (robe) earlier, was represented by Syarie's lawyer, Datuk Akberdin Abdul Kader.

She filed a suit in June last year after she was alleged to have been at the receiving end of a barrage of harassment and threats from 27-year-old Faghira Fatina, popularly known as Ira Kazar, via social media.

Previously, Puteri Sarah obtained an injunction order from the same court, among other things, to prevent Ira from approaching and disturbing the plaintiff, her husband, and their family.
