KUALA LUMPUR - Senior Deputy Public Prosecutor, Datuk Seri Gopal Sri Ram has been admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of a private hospital today.

According to a source contacted through WhatsApp, it was confirmed that the 79 year old former Federal Court Judge was hospitalized.

However, he refused to comment further on the matter.

It was reported that he was receiving treatment for a lung infection,

Sri Ram is also the head of prosecution team for the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) case involving Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak

On November 23 last year, the prosecution team told the High Court that Sri Ram will conduct the main examination of the main witness for the corruption and money laundering case amounting to RM2.3 billion of 1MDB funds.

However, the court was informed that Sri Ram was absent for three days due to fever.

After that, Sri Ram returned to duty as per usual and appeared in court for case proceedings in other courts.
