KUALA LUMPUR - The Defence ministry has cancelled five procurements for supplies, services and infrastructure projects to avoid leakages in expenditure.

It said this was following its implementation of procuring assets through open tender for the needs of all three branches of its services.

"This is in line with the current government’s policy of prioritising transparency and value for money.

"The defence ministry has also taken serious note of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s statement regarding the leakage of expenditure at the Budget 2023 Dialogue on Tuesday,” it said in a statement today.

It added that the ministry will not compromise with any party for committing wrongdoings for personal gain in terms of leakage and misconduct in procurement.

"The ministry also won’t hesitate to report to the authorities any leakage or lack of transparency in the procurement process,” it said. - Bernama
