Traffic towards the East Coast has increased, flow remains smooth

KUALA LUMPUR - Traffic towards the East Coast has started to increase today ( Friday) but remains smooth and under control.

The East Coast Highway (LPT) reported that as of 4pm today the traffic from kilometer (km) 1.7 to KM 37.2 towards the East (Genting Sempah) had an increase in vehicles.

Highway operators have reported that traffic was smooth on both directions.

According to checks by Sinar at the Gombak Toll Plaza, police patrols, the Road Transport Department (RTD) and the Malaysian Volunteer Department (Rela) were on the scene to control the flow of traffic.

Traffic police officers could also be seen making routine checks in the motorcycle lanes

Kuala Lumpur-Karak (KLK) users and East Coast Phase 1 Highway (LPT1) operator Anih Behad on Thursday said the increase in traffic at KLK was expected to reach up to 71 per cent with 171,000 vehicles compared to a regular day with 100,000 vehicles.

He said in LPT1 the increase was expected to be up to 62 per cent with 73,000 vehicles compared to the average of 45,000 on regular days.
