The Madani concept needs to be implemented effectively

SHAH ALAM - To make sure that the Madani concept works well, the Prime Minister and government leaders need to go on the ground to ensure that all the aspects of the concept is being applied correctly.

Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Committee Chairman Koong Lin Loong urged the government to make sure each ministry works well in applying the Madani concept.

"The government should have a key performance indicator (KPI) where each ministry and agency must look into each aspects of Madani.

"All MPs in each constitutions and area must work on Madani, it should be this way to make Madani work otherwise it will just be a slogan," he reasoned.

He also praised the Madani concept as it caters to the people's needs and focuses on the nation's growth.

"The government must understand why people are jobless and also relook into the education system.

"It is very important for government to prevent leakages in terms of project and tax due to poor management," he said.

When asked if he felt that the concept will benefit the business sector, Koong replied that he felt there was a high chance that it could.

Meanwhile SME National President Ding Hong Sing urged the government and prime minister to get-on-ground by monitoring associations and analyse what can be done.

"The concept is great, but implementing the concept is more important and it must done in a wise manner.

"Talking about business, the Madani concept offers good ideas but it depends on the businessmen themselves whether they choose to apply it or not," he said.

The Federation of Malaysian Manufactures (FMM) president Tan Sri Soh Thian Lai said he felt that the Malaysia Madani concept promoted an inclusive and holistic approach to the nation's development

"FMM in particular can resonate with the main core principles of the concept as FMM’s three core values of transparency, integrity and accountability are embedded in our work culture," he said.

"Good governance and a business environment driven by transparency, integrity and accountability built on the core values of respect, trust and compassion are critical to support business growth and for the overall well-being of the people," he said.

"At the same time, institutional reforms with continued focus on government administration efficiency and ensuring the highest level of integrity must be at the forefront of the government’s actions under the Madani concept," he elaborated.

On Thursday Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has unveiled the new “Madani Nation” slogan intended to guide the country forward.

Madani is the Malay acronym for Sustainability, Care and Compassion, Respect, Innovation, Prosperity, and Trust.

The concept reflects the trust forged between the government and the people on the basis of transparency and cooperation.
