KUANTAN - Pahang State Health Department (JKN) enforcement officers are now equipped with body cameras to ensure transparency in their assignments as well as for their own welfare.

JKN state director Datuk Nor Azimi Yunus explained the cameras were used as a method to promote intergrity and raise the department's image.

He said the use of the cameras's involved officers and personnel who were in the Tobacco Product Control Regulations (PPKHT) 2004. monitoring operations.

“The technology was first used in December and in Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur , this means meant Pahang is the third state using this approach to aid the enforcement team in performing their duties professionally and safely.

"On Friday 19 individuals were give compounds for smoking in food premises around Kuantan," he said

Azmi went on to explain that 8,857 notices were issued for health offences last year which was the second highest in Malaysia.

He said enforcement was the final step to ensure individuals obey the public health regulations in effect.

She said enforcement was needed to curb unhealthy practices that could bring the risk of diseases to the general public.

“We need to practice healthy lifestyles and come together to achieve a clean and safe environment for everyone," she said.
