TNB won the 2022 National AIG gold award

SHAH ALAM - Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) was recently named among the top five Gold winners of the 2022 National Integrity, Governance, and Anti-Corruption Award (AIGA).

Its president and chief executive officer, Datuk Ir Baharin Din said the accolade marked TNB's achievements in their commitment to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG), particularly governance and the personal integrity of employees through improving organisational integrity.

"This award is a valuable expression of appreciation for the compliance of TNB employees with various initiatives to strengthen the organisation including making integrity one of the six core values of the work culture.

"TNB had continuously taken initiatives to strengthen integrity through implementation programmes such as workshops and training, improving work and administration systems, and enforcement actions, as well as developing a commendable work culture," he said in a statement on Wednesday.

Baharin had received the award from the Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, at the IIM Auditorium. The award was organised by the Integrity Institute of Malaysia (IIM).

Also present was IIM's Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Wan Suraya Wan Mohd Radzi.

"Among TNB's integrity initiatives are obtaining the ISO 37001 'Anti Bribery Management System' certification from SIRIM QAS International, developing the Integrity Health Index (IHI) to objectively measure the level of integrity, and training officers at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Academy (MACA) and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to become certified integrity officers (CeIOs).

"TNB also increased cooperation with MACC by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enable both organisations to hold various joint activities for a period of five years.

"The MoU signed last year further strengthens the existing cooperation between TNB and MACC, including sharing information and expertise, improving TNB's systems and procedures, implementing joint detection operations, and providing awareness and training programmes," he explained.

Baharin went on to say that the effort to strengthen integrity empowers employees by highlighting their potential and cultivating their values and culture in support of governance that practises ethical and cultured business with a sense of responsibility.

"It is based on accountability, transparency, and carrying out responsibilities with full integrity, thus supporting the 16th agenda of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 2030.

"That is aiming to improve people's lives through increasing access to justice and encouraging effective, responsible, and inclusive institutions," he said.
