Umno Cleanse: Khairy, Noh Omar sacked; Hishamuddin, Shahril Hamdan suspended

KUALA LUMPUR - Former Umno Youth Chief Khairy Jamaluddin and former Selangor Umno liaison committee chairman Tan Sri Noh Omar has been sacked, while Sembrong MP Datuk Seri Hishammudin Hussein is suspended.

Among other members who have been suspended from the party for six years were former Umno Deputy Youth Chief Shahril Hamdan, Umno Youth Exco Fathul Bari Mat Jahya, former Jempol MP Salim Mohd Sharif and former Johor State Exco Maulizan Bujang.

This was confirmed by Umno supreme council member Datuk Dr Puad Zarkashi through his Facebook post.

“A total ‘clean up’ is done. Saddening it is needed. Khairy Jamaluddin and Tan Sri Noh Omar has been sacked.

“Those suspended for six years is Hishamuddin Hussien, Fathul Bahri, Shahril Hamdan, Maulizan Bujang and Salim Sharif.

“Everything was suggested by the Disciplinary Board. I will review it tomorrow morning,” he said.

The decision was announced after Umno’s supreme council meeting tonight following by Khairy's previous allegations that there were dirty tactics to ensure that Umno's two top positions were not contested at the recent general assembly (PAU).

It is understood that the disciplinary action was taken against the Umno leaders is linked to efforts to sabotage the party in the general election.
