KUALA LUMPUR – Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) will discuss if any of the sacked Umno leaders want to join the party.

PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli said the decision did not lie on him alone, but it had to be made collectively.

“We have to discuss that first at the party level. It is not my decision alone.

“I think we have to look at developments one by one,” he told reporters after a Parliamentary Lecture Program Series 1.0: Malaysian Economic Reset in Parliament on Friday.

Umno Supreme Working Council (MKT) member Datuk Dr Puad Zarkashi yesterday confirmed that former Rembau MP Khairy Jamaluddin and former Tanjung Karang MP Tan Sri Noh Omar were sacked from the party with immediate effect.

Umno had also suspended the membership of several other leaders for six years, including Sembrong MP Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein and former Information Chief Shahril Sufian Hamdan.

MKT members Datuk Dr Fathul Bari Mat Jahya, Umno Tebrau Division Chief Datuk Maulizan Bujang and former Jempol MP Datuk Seri Mohd Salim Mohd Sharif also faced the same fate.

Rafizi, who is also the Pandan MP, added that discussions at the party level would be held if the matter arises.

“Now it has not been brought up, if it is, we will definitely have to discuss it but we are not at that point yet.

“As long the matter is not brought up, it will only be speculation,” he said.
