SHAH ALAM - Sembrong MP Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein breaks the silence following Umno’s decision to suspend him from the party last night.

He, who is also former Umno vice president, shared a brief statement on Instagram which referred to the latest development.

"Their evil must not make us lose our good," he wrote as a caption which was posted with a picture of him comforting a crying woman believed to be a Umno member.

Although no names were mentioned, it was believed that Hishammuddin's statement was directed to Umno leaders who sided with the party's president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Former Rembau MP Khairy Jamaluddin, who was fired after Umno supreme council meeting last night also commented on the post.

Khairy, who is also former health minister, said he did not expect to share similar experience with the former defence minister after years of being loyal in in Umno.

"But as I said, it's not the end. It is far from the end," he commented.

Meanwhile, Sembrong Umno is scheduled to hold a press conference after a special meeting at Rumah Umno Bahagian Sembrong in Johor at 6pm tomorrow.

Other than Hishammuddin, several other leaders who were suspended from the party for six years were former information chief Shahril Sufian Hamdan; former Umno Tebrau MP Datuk Maulizan Bujang and former Jempol MP Datuk Seri Mohd Salim Sharif
